The Pack - Vans
Top scientists are unable to determine what makes this video so maddeningly watchable. Probably just because it's a silly skate rap song that doesn't even try to be serious. Reference for level of non-seriousness: the guy jigglin' his finger on the keyboard reproducing one note for like ten seconds making it even more obvious that it's the only note in the song. In addition, there are some extremely awesome hoodies in the video. I'd also like to take this opportunity, before anyone says anything about bla bla skate rap Lupe Fiasco, P.O.S., and old Pharrell and bla bla, to make clear that I am fully aware that these The Pack kids did not invent playing with skateboards while being a rapper. And I hate Lupe Fiasco.
All these skateboards in my face sort of make me miss the old days in Dearborn when everybody used to skate and we made a metric ass load of skate videos and generally ran around like jackasses. Plus, awhile back I got into EpiclyLater'd and had a goddamn blast seeing all these really creative people generally just doing what they like, and getting an accurate picture of the part of grown-up skate scene that's still innovative. Oh! Speaking of innovation, it looks like Shepard Fairey's finally got his long-overdue and overrated balls in the righteous vise of justice.
Out of nowhere: I'm working on a screen print design for a clothing label I invented after drawing on boxes and switching between NPR and the indie hip-hop shoutcast station at work all day. It is called HOLLABURTON and it's goin' all over at least one hoodie. Um, that is it for this one because Joe and I are about to leave to go see Factotum, which we have prepared for by listening to live Bukowski recordings for the last hour or so. Bye!
(This video down here is strictly for bad ass purposes. I start practically every one of my rap party mixes with this bad boy. The video's not really a fifth as good as the song, unfortunately.)
